Wolfsburg, 23 March 2011 – Following the severe earthquake and the devastating tsunami in Japan, Volkswagen is to make significant donations to support the people of Japan. This was stated by Dr. Horst Neumann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft for Human Resources, in Wolfsburg today. Group brands Volkswagen and Audi are each to donate a million euros for humanitarian aid via organizations such as the German Red Cross. Neumann underlined: “There is tremendous willingness within the Volkswagen Group to help the population of Japan, which has been affected so dramatically, especially in the North-East of the country. Every day, we receive emails from employees expressing great sympathy and a determination to assist people in Japan.”

John Jones loves his 1957 Volkswagen Bus so much he would rather drive it than his wife’s comfortable Suburban. Ever since he owned his first one, he’s had a fascination with Volkswagens. That fascination has turned into an obsession.

APR Riding Wave of Momentum into Home Race at Barber Motorsports Park

The Barber 200 couldn’t have come at a better time for APR Motorsport.

GRAND-AM’s only Alabama-based team is riding a three-race winning streak in the Street Tuner class of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge heading into its home race, set for April 9 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham.

The team will trailer three Volkswagen GTIs for the ST class in addition to an Audi S4 in the Grand Sport division for the two-hour drive to Barber. Ian Baas and rookie Ryan Ellis share the No. 171, and brothers Chris and Kevin Gleason co-drive the No. 181. In addition, the team will field a third ST entry, the No. 161 for Todd Lamb and Skip Brock. Josh Hurley and Gibson co-drive the No. 91 Audi. Baas and Hurley are former winners at the circuit, sharing the ST victory for APR in 2009.
